Carl Meyer, founder of Bio Gold®, previously worked in a variety of Government positions at the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). However, Carl became frustrated by sustainability issues linked to New Zealand’s agricultural exports. He became obsessed with researching new, sustainable and diversified opportunities for our primary sector.
After studying one of New Zealand's largest industries, Forestry, he discovered that pine pollen, (an overlooked byproduct of pine trees) actually had thousands of years of historical use as a high value herb in China, Japan, and South Korea.
Our Bio Gold team is passionate about using the power of plants to enrich human health and society. We’ve combined modern science with ancient botanical knowledge to develop our 100% New Zealand made pine pollen products. We envision a bright and exciting future for New Zealand, with a focus on health, wellbeing, and love for nature.
After completing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) majoring in biology and environmental science, Carl worked for the NZ Government's Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) in a range of areas including biosecurity, tech & innovation, and policy.
Carl is deeply passionate about exploring the biochemical properties of plants and natural compounds, and how they can benefit human health. He is a fellow of the Sir Edmund Hillary Fellowship (EHF) Leadership Network.
